What a delight to find your website. I was born at Fans farm in 1949 but left the Borders at the age of 16 to serve in the Royal Navy. I was very pleased to read the article on the German warplane on Darlingfield hill. As a child on Lightfield farm I knew of this and despite parental instructions NOT to go there both my late sister and I of course did on many occasions. It's great to know that the family descendants were able to visit and know the area their loved ones were lost. Best wishes. from William Bell

    1. Thank you, William, for your kind comment on the Auld Earlston blog. I shall pass your recollections on the Darlingfield war time crash to the descendants of the pilot, who I know willl appreciate your thoughts.

  2. I am a direct descendant on the Sanderson's who came from Earlston and Christopher Sanderson who is listed in your main page was my 3rd Great Uncle. I have found your site very useful and I came across a story of James Sanderson the other day which I thought would be of interest to you.

If you email me at mybusinessadvice@icloud.com I will provide the story.

  3. Hi, I'm actually looking into the same branch of family as Christopher is my 3rd great uncle too. If you had any info you could share that would be great.
